Unexpected joy

I’ve developed a bit of a problem with searching for old 35mm film cameras, mainly on Facebook Marketplace. I’m sat here looking at four from Marketplace and five from Ebay plus two I’ve inherited. 11 old film cameras.

I’m late to this, the resurgence in film has been going on for a while now and I know I’m certainly not alone in spending hours scrolling, looking for something vaguely interesting, not too far away, finding it and then doing a little bit of research to see if it is worth the asking price (If it is £10 or less I’m having it).

I mainly look for point and shoot cameras. I really enjoy loading some film and not worrying too much about the rest.

An unexpected joy is the tiny glimpse into another persons life from their doorstep. I love seeing inside homes and comparing how they appear to live with how I live. Are they untidy like I can be? Do they surround themselves with objects like I do? So far whilst collecting my purchases I’ve had a dog escape and then helped search for it, met an interesting chap that used to be a local radio DJ that now does house clearances and another guy that enjoys going out with a night vision camera at night to watch wildlife.

I’m starting to think that I could maybe take some film, batteries and let the first picture with my new to me camera be of the seller. Might be interesting.

Some of my purchases. I like to think I’ve saved them from landfill.
